Whole foods are unprocessed and unrefined or only a minimum extent. They do not contain added ingredients, such as sugar, salt, preservatives ro other artificial additives. Whole foods are, for example, whole grains, unprocessed fruits and vegetables pulses, nuts, seeds and non-homogenized milk. If foods are cooked at all, gentle cooking methods such as steaming, soaking and baking are used.
Those who eat whole foods generally prefer organic products. However whole foods and organic foods are not interchangeable.
